“Bhakti Yoga” – Love and Devotion

Bhakti is a symbol of the unity of the mind, body and spirit.

Bhakti (Devotion) is one of the four yogic paths to enlightment, focusing on love and devotion. The “Bhakta” or the practitioner of Bhakti, can use the practice to communicate and unite with the Divine. Even though this may sound very difficult to achieve, leveraging Yoga is a sure way to reach the inner peace. Some say that all you need for practising Bhakti is an open, loving heart.

The central aspect of Bhakti Yoga is closely related to the Hindu pantheon of Deities. Such deities represent a humanized aspect of a Superior Force, the Divine. Bhakti yoga facilitates the reach of a higher spiritual state, close to epiphany. However, trying to connect with the Hindu Deities may be difficult for few people. However, you can still practise Bhakti yoga and explore its relieving advantages. Bhakti Yoga enables you to connect with the Divinity in any form in order to express devotion.

Bhakti Yoga is deeply satisfying

"Bhakti softens the heart and removes jealousy, hatred, lust, anger, egoism, Pride and arrogance… The devotee attains the immortal abode of everlasting peace, bliss and knowledge” -Swami Sivananda

After all, this is what we all search for – inner peace. The goal of Bhakti Yoga is to reach the state of pure bliss. Seeing everything around you as a pure manifestation of Divinity, from a simple butterfly to the people around you, you may say that you have reached the goal of Bhakti.

Ways of practising Bhakti Yoga

Bhakti Yoga can be practiced in many ways, including reading or listening to the scripture, praising or chanting while focusing on the Divine, the central source of the Universe. Since not all Bhakti practices are accessible to the average yogi, mantra mediation is the simplest way to accede the object of your devotion.
"Bhakti Yoga helps us to create a dynamic flow of energy from the heart to the object of adoration, whether it’s a representation of Buddha, a Christian icon or a blooming flower.”

Are you ready to open your heart?

We are talking about strong, focused and peaceful love. Devotion easily surpasses intellectual knowledge of yoga or the outward practice. What people want is the inner experience, the feeling of the heart.
